Gift ideas for 40th Birthday?

February 19, 2012 · Posted in Gift Ideas for Her, Personalized gifts, Q&A · 1 Comment

Q: I am going to the 40th birthday party of a friend of mine and I have no idea what to get her. She has everything! She will be traveling to China in the next few months to adopt her second daughter, so I thought maybe something to do with that, but I can’t think of anything. I am getting desperate, the party is Feb. 10th. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

A: You can bring her a jade pendant. Jade is for good luck, which would be a nice thing for her to bring along on her exciting trip.

Another idea is a fancy journal to fill out during her trip. Something to remember the big event. Or, a gift certificate to a local spa for manicure/pedicure, to pamper herself before she leaves. Perhaps a digital photo frame (if too pricey go in w/someone else) to show off all the pics I’m sure she’ll be taking overseas.

Okey, More Unique Gift Ideas for Wife Mom Sister Girlfriend…

Sorry to disappoint you, but women don’t ever get to be 40. There is no such a thing as 40th birthday for women. You might as well shoot us. And don’t even mention 40 is the new 30, unless you have a death wish. Women can be very sensitive and often prone to anxiety attacks. You never can tell what they’re gonna do at the mere mention of the word “age,” let alone “40th birthday.” Never ask a woman how old she is. It is considered rude to ask. By whom? By women, of course. Plus, you’d never get the correct answer, so why bother risking your life?

But if.. and that is a big “if,” women had a 40th birthday, don’t give her a coffee mug or t-shirt that says “When You’re Over-the-Hill You Pick Up Speed,” or “It took me 40 years to get this good.” Those are guy’s stuff. Women don’t like to be reminded, let alone make fun of, their age. Not that women don’t have a sense of humor. On course, we do. We just don’t like it if the joke’s on us. Ok? And we hate birthdays!

Again, if.. and that is a big “if,” women had a 40th birthday, here are some wonderful 40th birthday gift ideas for women – awesome gifts for Wife, Mom, Sister, Girlfriend and Girl Friends.

40th Birthday Gift Ideas for Women – Sister and BFF (Best Friends Forever)

I have three sisters. All of them have had their 40th birthday. Obviously, they are much younger than I. Believe me, it was rather embarrassing that when they celebrated their 40th birthday, they were all smiles. The question “Do women fake it?” comes to mind.

Here are some lovely 40th birthday gift ideas for sisters and best friends forever.

  1. Make-over – If your sister or friend has her own hair stylist AND she looks good, take her to her own hair stylist and have a new hairdo. If her hair looks questionable, take her to your hair stylist instead. This is a great birthday gift idea, specially on her 40th birthday.
  2. Manicure and Pedicure – I treated my sisters to manicure and pedicure and they love it. I want one, if and when I ever get to be 40. Sitting there and letting someone do your nails is absolutely wonderful.
  3. Movie Night – You can take your sister or friend to the latest romantic movie or comedy whichever she likes, or you can have a girl friends small party and rent a couple of movies. Women love sad movies. For some reason, we enjoy crying our eyes out.
  4. Dinner – A movie and a dinner would be ideal. But just taking her to her favorite restaurant will be great, too. Your sister or friend will love to have their favorite dessert. Just make sure the word “birthday” is not mentioned in the restaurant, or the stuff will suddenly appear singing “Happy Birthday,” and this might cause your sister or friend to sob on the spot.
  5. Buy her a drink or two or three – If your sister or friend likes to drink once in while, this will be a real treat. If your sister or friend loves to drink, this will be a wonderful birthday gift idea. If your sister or friend has a drinking problem, take her to a coffee shop.

40th Birthday Gift Ideas for Women – Lovely Gifts for Mom

Kids, listen here. It’s Mom’s birthday. Never mind how old. A birthday is a birthday. The very best birthday gift for Mom is peace and quiet. Can you do that? You may also give her a big hug and lots of kisses. Mom loves hugs and kisses. Mom also love those lovely birthday cards you make and all gifts you make yourself. Mom is easy to please. You know why? Because Mom loves you and anything you make and give to her, she will love and treasure it forever.

  • Tell Mom she can take a nice bubble bath, and promise to behave and not make your baby brother cry.
  • Ask Dad to take you and Mom out to a picnic, or the movies, or to mini golf. Mom loves to be with her family.
  • No, sweetie, you don’t make a birthday cake for Mom. Ask Dad to buy a birthday cake and you can stick the candles on top. Let Dad light the candles. And yes, you can sing “Happy Birthday” as loud as you can.
  • And tell Mom you love her. She already knows you do, but Mom always love to hear you say you love her.

Take her to Paris. Paris, France.. that is. Paris is the most romantic city in the world. It has an unparalleled aura about it that even words fail to describe. Paris is enthralling and captivating, the “city of lights” exudes the charm of romance like no other. Best known for excellent wines and desserts, Paris is just perfect for romance. The perfect gift for your wife’s 40th birthday.   If Paris is out of the question, these 40th birthday gift ideas for your wife, are just as wonderful.

  1. Jewelry. Jewelry. Jewelry. – You can never go wrong with jewelry. Women love jewelries.
  2. Flowers – Jewelry and a dozen long-stem red roses, will make your wife love more. You might even get lucky that night.
  3. Dining and Dancing – When was the last time you took her out dancing. Never mind that you hate dancing. It’s not your 40th birthday, it’s hers. Dinner and Dancing is very romantic for women. If you combine jewelry, flowers, and dinner and dancing, I assure you, you will get lucky that night.

And don’t forget to say “You look more beautiful than the first time I laid eyes on you.” Then take her in your arms, and whisper in her ear “I love you. I will always love you. Always.

That will definitely seal the deal.. twice.

Lucky you. And it’s not even your birthday.

Easter gift basket for kid’s? Any ideas?

February 18, 2012 · Posted in Children Gifts, Easter Gift Ideas, Q&A · 2 Comments

Q: For Easter I usually make small easter gift baskets for my cousins. My boyfriend and I and some other family members went in and bought my 2 older cousins 6 and 5 a Wii since there was stolen. So I still need to get my little cousins who is 2 years old and is a boy and my 11 month old cousin whose a girl something. Any ideas? Something small as both their birthdays are coming up. Thanks!

A: Choose a smaller sized basket for your toddler. I like to opt for softer Easter baskets with animal faces rather than woven baskets for small children for several reasons. First, toddlers enjoy receiving cuddling animals (even in basket form!). Second, toddlers may have a tendency to chew on woven baskets and some of these baskets may contain dies.

1. Egg-shaped Play-Doh. During the Easter season, you can find cute little basket stuffers at retailers such as Target or WalMart. Toddlers love to play with Play-Doh so include a little 2 pack of egg-shaped Play-Doh in this year’s basket.

2. Easter bunny bouncy ball. Most small children love to ball with bouncy balls. Look for a ball that is either pastel colored for Easter or that contains a bunny inside the ball. Be sure to give bouncy balls that are large enough so that the child cannot swallow them. If it doubt, only give these toys to toddlers over age 3.

3. A small crayon pack and Easter themed coloring book. You really cannot go wrong with crayons in a toddler’s basket! Kids this age love to do artwork so encourage their creativity. Look for washable crayons for easy cleanup.

4. Choose one candy item. Rather than filling your toddler’s basket full of sugary treats, choose to add just one candy item. A small chocolate bunny is a good idea because you can break it apart and make it last for several days.

5. ABC magnets. Purchase a package of ABC magnets for your refrigerator for older toddlers. Your child will love learning the ABCs and making words on the fridge for weeks and months to come. This gift idea may not be appropriate for younger toddlers who still have a tendency to “taste” everything.

6. Add a small stuffed toy. If your child loves to cuddle with furry animals, add a Easter bunny to the basket. My toddler loves dogs so we’ll add a special Easter “doggie” to his gift basket. Choose a stuffed toy that your child will enjoy!

7. Easter stickers. Add some packages of small Easter themed stickers to the basket. Your child will love accenting his or her artwork with these fun shaped stickers. You can even have your child make Easter cards for friends and family and decorate them with the stickers.

8. Bunny ears. Add a pair of bunny ears that your child can wear during their Easter egg hunt. Your child will be delighted to wear some whimsical ears, and you’ll be able to capture precious memories on film. If you cannot find bunny ears to purchase, consider adding art supplies to the basket to make them with your child. When you package your toddler’s Easter basket, I’d suggest that you do not use artificial Easter grass due to the choking hazard. If you need to add something to the bottom of the basket, choose some Easter themed tissue paper. Happy Easter!

White Elephant Gift Exchange Ideas?

February 15, 2012 · Posted in Corporate gifts, Funny gifts, Q&A · 3 Comments

Q: We’re doing a white elephant gift exchange at work our spending limit is 15-18 dollars.
For those who don’t know white elephant is where you take your gift and exchange it for another gift from someone.
no drawing names or anything…
I need some ideas that would work for both male and female.

A: I always get gift cards to bookstores or music stores for parties like this, and most people love them. Just be careful to read the fine print if you get a generic gift card connected to a major credit agency (Visa, Discover, MasterCard, AMEX), because most of them lose value each month if they are not used right away, and outright expire after a year or so.

Game Tips:

Gifts are typically inexpensive, humorous items or used items from home. The term white elephant refers to a gift whose maintenance costs exceed its usefulness. While the first use of this term remains an item of contention among historians, one theory suggests that Ezra Cornell brought the term into the popular lexicon through his numerous and frequent social gatherings that date back to as early as 1828.

To keep with the spirit of the white elephant, the gifts are often gifts the participants have received outside of the game but do not want.

In its most basic form, the gameplay is as follows: Each participant supplies one wrapped gift. Participants determine in what order they will take turns choosing gifts. The first person opens a wrapped gift and the turn ends. The second person then chooses whether to open a wrapped gift or “steal” a previously opened gift. If a person has his gift stolen, he also has the option of choosing a wrapped gift or stealing an unwrapped one. When a wrapped gift is opened, the turn ends. When all gifts have been unwrapped, the game ends.

What to gift my bf on Valentine’s Day?

February 6, 2012 · Posted in Gift Ideas for Him, Q&A, Valentine's Day gifts · Comment

Q: My boyfriend’s birthday and valentine’s are both coming in feb(diff dates) so I wanna know what should I give him on valentine’s day. I am gifting him a classic pen on his birthday but I am very confused about valentine. I never had a boyfriend before and I don’t know what gays gift their bfs on Valentine’s Day. He is ALLERGIC to rose and other flowers :( ….what should I gift him now…

A: Hmm. Valentine’s day gift for men are always difficult to choose. Cologne, a fancy dinner, wrist watch etc… The list can go on. But it all depends on what he will appreciate more. something he can use and something he can remember. Well, for me, it’s easy because my husband is not too keen about valentine’s day gifts, but I always get him something he’ll need and that will remind him of the day. I think his collection is getting bigger (12 years of marriage + 5 dating).

I will suggest that you get him something that will remind him of Valentine’s day and at the same time something he can use. A coffee mug, phone case or something within the lines. It doesn’t have to be too expensive ( There is no amount of money that can express love), just thoughtful.

How about this?

I’m Nuts About You…

Good Luck!.
